Preserving History Through Presence
The SAR Color Guard brings history to life by wearing period-accurate Revolutionary War uniforms and participating in patriotic ceremonies and public events. Through our visual presence, we honor the legacy of our patriot ancestors and remind the public of the sacrifices made for American independence. Our service is both ceremonial and educational, bridging the past with the present.
A Visible Tribute to Patriotism
As one of the most recognizable aspects of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Color Guard represents our commitment to patriotism and national heritage. Whether we are presenting the colors at community events, marching in parades, or standing in solemn remembrance at veteran services, our presence reflects the dignity and values of our organization.
Open to All Members
Any SAR member in good standing is welcome to join the Color Guard. No prior military experience is required — just a willingness to represent the chapter with pride and respect. Uniforms can be assembled gradually, and our chapter is happy to assist new members in getting started. Participation can range from full dress at formal events to serving as a guardsman in chapter programs.
Serving Our Community and State
The Canadian Valley Chapter Color Guard regularly partners with civic groups, schools, veteran organizations, and other SAR chapters throughout Oklahoma. Whether posting flags at a naturalization ceremony, honoring Revolutionary War graves, or supporting local DAR and C.A.R. programs, our Color Guard plays an active and visible role in public service and patriotic education.
Building Tradition in Canadian County
As one of the newest chapters in Oklahoma, we are proud to establish our own local Color Guard traditions here in Canadian County. With each appearance, we grow awareness of the American Revolution and inspire future generations to value their history. The Canadian Valley Chapter Color Guard stands ready to serve — with honor, humility, and a deep respect for the founding ideals of our nation.
